Phew! I am glad that streak is over. A solid solid effort by the Isles against the Pens Thursday. I loved the intensity on every shift, it is really good to see Islander hockey back. Ricky played outstanding once again proving this is a different team without him in the cage. How about Tom Poti? The guy was labeled as soft his whole career and when he was with the Rangers it showed. Last night however he showed the NHL he is not soft at all. He stuck up for his teammates on several occasions during the game. Brendan Witt was back to his old self and Mike Sillinger was really solid and showed a lot of grit as well. Ryan Smyth had a SUPERB game, maybe his best as an Islander. Blake, Kozlov, and Hunter all broke out of slumps with their goals. Certainly a win to build on BUT we can not overlook the Flyers on Saturday. They got walloped by the Rangers and will be playing hard. Were gonna need another good effort. Then after the Flyers, we play the Idiots. Should be fun.
